Two compositions to illustrate the idea of rhyming pairs.
Left: A black and white vector composition representing the idea of an "uncool fool." I used the imagery of the fool from the Rider-Waite tarot deck, as it is very recognizable. In the background I created a melting pattern, having the colors alternate within the silhouette of the fool to create a psychedelic melting effect.
Right: A color photoshop collage representing the idea of the "lucky ducky," with a duck in a grocery store looking at a variety of Lucky Charms, the cereal. A very simple but funny idea, capitalizing on the idea of not going with the obvious idea of lucky, making the viewer think for a moment before arriving to the solution.
Rough compositions of the ideas done in procreate. This was where I decided to deviate from my original idea for "uncool fool" from someone being laughed at to the above tarot idea, as it was hard to make the correct solution come across clearly and effectively.
Early procreate sketches to further flesh out ideas and begin to imagine where each idea could go. The idea for "lucky ducky" stayed consistent throughout the design process whereas the "uncool fool" idea went through many iterations. As mentioned before it was hard to come up with a way to solidly convey the idea without the use of words, as that was not allowed within the parameters of the assignment.
50 sketches exploring various rhyming pairs. Each separate pair is contained within its own color block. Pairs are as follows: cruel fool; groovy baby; fat cat; sinister minister; uncool fool; cool fool; dog dialogue; lucky ducky; fool carpool; funky bee; punk duck.
